FAQ

Q: What is the “Life Document”?

PKG STUDIO thinks there needs to be a shift in the way you think about home movies and family photos.  Our Life Document PKGs offer you the ability to have the important moments in your life captured by a professional artist.  Now you can relax and enjoy those special events without being stuck behind a camera lens.  While you’re free to enjoy life, the artists at PKG will document your family’s memories with friendly, personalized service.

Q: How do you define an “Event”?

We define an Event as a stand-alone session, involving photography and/or videography, lasting for a period of 2-3 hours.  Some of the Events PKG has covered include graduations, birthday parties, children’s athletics, proposals, corporate events and vacations – but we can capture any Event that you or your family can dream up!

Q: What is the PKG “Time Capsule”?

We understand that it is not enough to only capture the new Events in your family’s life, so we developed methods for taking care of your existing memories as well.  We can convert any amount of photos, videos and documents to digital formats, as well as retouch or restore those images that you thought were damaged forever.  Other services include family member interviews and surveys, to capture those things that can’t be translated through a photograph.   The Time Capsule is perhaps our most valuable feature, and it can be added to any of our Life Document PKGs.

Q: What type of photography do you do?

Instead of throwing around buzzwords that hold little meaning, I would prefer to describe what PKG Studio does – we document your special moments through the eyes of an artist.  PKG focuses on capturing priceless moments throughout the day, emphasizing action and reaction, emotion, ambiance and detail.  In the editing stage, we analyze every photo to make sure we highlight and enhance the essence of each image.

Q: At weddings, do you take posed family photographs with the couple or only candids?

Certainly! Posed family photographs are a must, and we are committed to taking the time to make sure you get these important images! However, PKG feels that these photographs should take, at most, 30-40 minutes of time on the wedding day. We prefer fun, casual groupings as opposed to overly posed ones, and we try to make them as quick and easy as possible.  PKG encourages its clients to think about doing your posed photographs in unique and different locations, rather than at the altar of the church.  We are also flexible about taking these pictures either before or after the actual ceremony, depending on the couple’s preference.

Q: Can we give you a shot list of photographs we want you to take?

We want to make sure we are paying attention to what is happening and photographing that, not just working our way through a list.  However, if there is something that you especially want us to get photos of, please let us know prior to the wedding date.  We assure you that PKG will get all of the “standard wedding photos” throughout the course of the event.

Q: Will you travel to photograph weddings?

Yes, and for more than just weddings! PKG Studio’s home-base is Atlanta, Georgia, but we love to travel for weddings and for special events that we cover with our Life Document PKGs.  We offer flat rates for travel within the United States, and in Canada and the Caribbean. International travel will be custom quoted based on the destination and time of year.

Q: Who will photograph my wedding?

Patrick Gosnell photographs all of the weddings commissioned through PKG Studio.  We have a group of trusted assistants and second photographers that help us cover the day’s events, but we believe you should get the person you paid for at your special day.

Q: How long does it take to get our photographs?

PKG Studio prides itself on doing quality work, and that means we don’t just “batch-edit” all the photos and mail them off.  We take care to inspect every image and add our finishing touches.  That being said, we know you don’t want to wait six months to see the pictures!  We offer a 1-month guarantee for receiving your wedding photographs.  Your digital archive discs will be delivered – either in person or shipped via USPS Priority Mail.

Q: Can our guests view our photographs online?

Once your images are ready, we will post them in an online gallery where they can be viewed by friends and family for six months following your wedding date.  We will send you the link (which you can forward) as well as post it on our website, www.pkgstudio.com Your guests will be able to order prints and albums by contacting us here at PKG Studio.  We can also provide you with cards to include in your thank you notes so that you can let people know where to look.

Q: What type of equipment do you use and do you bring backup equipment?

We use professional grade Canon digital SLRs and video cameras with which to photograph weddings and Events, and we always bring backup equipment.

Q: How many pictures do you take and will I get every picture you take?

The number of photographs we take will depend on the size of your wedding and how many hours of photography you purchase. We do edit all of our weddings and portraits to show only the best images and we will not show an image that does not meet our high quality standards.

Q: Do I get to keep the negatives?

We provide the high-resolution digital files (the digital equivalent of negatives) with all of our Wedding and Life Document PKGs. We will provide you with a list of resources from which to get quality prints. We do retain the copyright to the images and the right to use them for promotional purposes, competition, professional review, and so on. You will get a written release that will allow you to make unlimited personal reproductions and copies for your friends and families.

Q: How long have you been in business?

Patrick has been shooting weddings in the Atlanta area since 2001, but recently opened PKG Studio after splitting his time between freelancing and teaching a high school photography class for the last five years.

Q: What happens if something goes wrong and none of the photographs turn out?

This has never happened to us and we take all kinds of precautions to make sure that it never will, including bringing backup equipment and making multiple copies of the digital files just in case.

Q: What kind clothing do you wear to the wedding?

We wear clothes that are suited for the occasion, yet don’t limit us when we are trying to work. For most weddings this means slacks paired with our black PKG Studio shirts.  If your wedding is a more formal occasion, of course, we will dress appropriately.

Q: Will you attend our rehearsal?

As a general rule we do not attend rehearsals unless there is a compelling reason for us to do so (very unique ceremony, unique location, etc.).  If you wish to hire us to photograph the rehearsal or the rehearsal dinner, we can add that service to any of our wedding PKGs.

Q: What if I want an item that is not included on your price list?

We offer a large selection of items for our clients, but it would be hard to list everything that is available. If there’s something that you’re looking for in particular and you don’t see it on our price list, please ask us. We have access to many different vendors and are happy to help you find any item you want.

Q: Do you mind if people other than you take photographs during the wedding?

Not at all. It is not our goal to interfere with the happenings of the day. Our only request is that friends and family refrain from taking photos during the brief time we will be taking posed photographs of you, your families, and your wedding party. This is more to ensure that everyone is looking at our cameras and paying attention to us for these photos. They will also go more quickly if we have everyone’s full attention.

Q: I love your work and I want to hire you – what do we do now?

In order to reserve a date we require a signed contract and a booking fee of 50% of the total PKG cost.  Email or call us and we will send you a contract and the information you need to complete the booking.

Q: What is your payment schedule policy?

A booking fee of 50% of the total PKG cost is required at the time the contract is signed. This amount is a good-faith measure for booking a date with PKG Studio.  The remaining balance of the coverage is due on the day of the Event.

Q: I think I might have to cancel or reschedule my wedding. Can I get my booking fee back?

If your Event is canceled more than 30 days in advance, PKG will refund 50% of the booking fee.  If there is a cancellation within 30 days of the Event, the booking fee will not be refunded. Please understand that the booking fee guarantees that we will hold your date exclusively for you. This means that once you pay us and sign your contract we turn down any other work for that date. The closer it gets to that date, the less likely we are to find another event to replace yours – and that means lost income. Of course emergencies do happen and we are not completely heartless. If you need to postpone the date, we’re happy to apply your booking fee to a new date if we’re available.

Q: What if I have a question that is not covered here?
